The researchers to make study in any field start their work with literature scanning at first. Through literature scanning, it could be observed whether the issue is studied beforehand and if so, which aspects of the issue are studied. Additionally, appropriate information and documents could be collected about the issue. The studies about teaching Turkish to foreigners are gradually increasing. Thanks to the studies made, the problems and requirements in the field are presented to the scientific world as data by means of books, articles and thesis. In the current situation, the number of scientific works about teaching Turkish as a foreign language is not an underestimated point. Quantitative studies need to be conducted as well as qualitative ones. With the study of literature works from the quantitative aspect, it is possible to see what is required, what the weakest sides are and what the beneficial ones are in literature. The general purpose of this study is to determine the keywords including 160 scientific articles published in various journals between 2000-2014 in the literature of teaching Turkish as a foreign language and to classify them as thematically by detecting the relevant issues. What makes the study important is that there has been no study about this issue so far. In the study, the data were obtained as key words lists and indexed by giving a number for each key word. Accordingly, it is aimed to determine which key words were used most in literature, and so to find out which issues were studied and to come up with solution proposals under the light of study results. The population of the study consists of 168 scientific articles in national journals and 56 articles in international journals published in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language between the years 2000 and 2014. It is observed that eight of these articles have no key words. Therefore, of all 168 articles, 160 articles make up the sample of the study. The data includes 160 scientific articles collected from 56 national and international journals published in internet between the years 2000-2014. The data analysis was made through content analysis. 513 keywords were obtained; the keywords were listed and then classified according to their contents. The frequencies of data obtained were determined and the findings were detected in this way. When 160 articles published between the years 2000-2014 in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language were studied, it was seen that 314 different keywords were used. When the issues and their contents prepared from the data obtained at the result of literature scanning were studied, it was understood the titles of the issues vary. The results obtained from this study tend to approve this fact. Depending on the results of the study, these suggestions could be made: ? The number of the studies into basic skills especially, comprehension skills such as listening and reading skills should be increased in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. ? In teaching grammar, it should be benefitted from linguistics and this usage should be the issue of scientific articles. The structural elements of Turkish should be described. Through the comparative studies in teaching grammar, the difficulties and easiness should be defined and guiding studies for the instructors teaching Turkish as a foreign language about the issue should be presented. ? Two key points of Education, teachers and students, should be focused on more and the available situation of them should be determined and need analysis should be conducted. ? The greatest deficiency of Literature is that there is no a teaching program that will make up a common action point in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. According to the text of Common Framework for European Languages and the need analysis, Turkish teaching programs should be created for Turkish origins as well as foreigners. ? In our modern world in which lesson materials are being designed with modern formations rather than conventional methods, functional materials should be prepared for using in teaching Turkish as a foreign language and the studies to measure the motivation, attitude and success .etc. should be focused. ? The studies about method problems in teaching Turkish as a foreign language should be increased and the literature should be enhanced through method and technical studies. ? The studies into detecting the available situation about cultural transfer should be speeded.In the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language, a general evaluation should be practiced by studying post-graduate and doctoral thesis and looking into the keywords in these scientific articles.
