Hemşirelik Son Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Mesleki Algılarına Yönelik Nitel Bir Çalışma

Öz:

Amaç: Araştırmada hemşirelik son sınıf öğrencilerinin, hemşirelik mesleği algılarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Öğrencilerin mesleki algılarını konu edinen bu çalışmada, nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma, Türkiye'de bir Sağlık Yüksekokulu'nda 2013-2014 Öğretim Yılı'nda öğrenim gören son sınıf hemşirelik öğrencileri ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında öznel deneyimleri incelemek için, öğrencilerin kendilerinin çizdikleri resimler ve resimlere dayalı kendi tanımlamaları bir arada kullanılmıştır. Katılımcı sayısı, veri doygunluğuna göre belirlenmiş olup, araştırma toplam 44 hemşirelik öğrencisi ile sonlandırılmıştır. Veriler, tümevarım bakış açısıyla analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin çözümlenmesi araştırmacılar tarafından elde kodlama ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırma verileri çözümlendiğinde, hemşirelik mesleği algısının, öğrenci hemşireler için içsel bağlamda üç ana kategoride toplandığı belirlenmiştir. Mesleki algıya dair kavramsal modeli oluşturan bu üç ana kategori isimleri ve aldıkları frekans sayıları sırasıyla; imaj (f=73), figür (f=55), çalışma yaşamı (f=46)'dır. Sonuç: Çalışmanın bulguları hemşirelik öğrencilerinin meslek algılarını "imaj, figür ve çalışma yaşamı" üçgeninde şekillendirdikleri konusunda ışık tutucu ve yol gösterici niteliktedir

A Qualitative Study of Professional Perceptions of Senior Nursing Students

Öz:

Objective: The aim of the study was to determine the perceptions of nursing profession of senior nursing students. Method: A qualitative research method was used in the study of professional perceptions of the students. The study was performed in the academic year 2013-2014 on senior year students at a School of Health in Turkey. In collecting data, both pictures drawn by the students themselves and their own descriptions based on the pictures were used to analyze subjective experiences. The number of participants was determined according to data saturation, and the study was terminated with 44 nursing students. Data was analyzed from an inductive point of view. Resolution of the data was achieved by manual coding by the researchers. Result: In resolution of the study data, it was determined that perception of nursing profession was grouped under three major categories in internal consistency for the student nurses. The names and frequencies of those three major categories which formed the conceptual model of professional perception were image (f=73), figure (f=55), and working life (f=46), respectively. Conclusion: The findings of the study have illuminating and guiding features showing that nursing students their perceptions of profession in “image, figure, and working life” triangle
