Gençlerde Sosyal Medya Bağımlılığı ve Sosyal Dışlanma:Öz-Kontrolün Aracılık Rolü

Öz:

Bu araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinin sosyal dışlanmaları ile sosyal medya bağımlılığı arasında öz kontrol becerilerinin aracı rolü incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu toplam 426 üniversite öğrencisi (334 kız ve 92 erkek) oluşturmakta olup veri toplama sürecinde Sosyal Dışlanma Ölçeği, Sosyal Medya Bağımlılığı Ölçeği ve Kısa Öz Kontrol Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri analizinde ise Yapısal Eşitlik Modellemesi ile Bootstrapping işlemi yapılmıştır. Kurulan yapısal eşitlik modellemesine göre öğrencilerin öz kontrol becerileri sosyal dışlanma ile sosyal medya bağımlılığı arasında kısmi aracı role sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öz kontrolün sosyal dışlanma ile sosyal medya bağımlılığı arasındaki ilişkide dolaylı etkisinin anlamlılığını test etmek amacıyla yapılan Bootstrapping işlemi sonucuna göre dolaylı etkinin anlamlı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, sosyal medya bağımlılığının ortaya çıkmasında sosyal dışlanmanın önemli bir nedensel değişken olduğu ve öz kontrolün bu ilişkide önemli bir koruyucu işlev gösterdiği, ek olarak sosyal dışlanmanın öz kontrolü zayıflatarak sosyal medya bağımlılığının ortaya çıkmasına zemin hazırlayan bir etmen olduğu görülmektedir.

Social Media Addiction and Social Exclusion in Youth: The Mediating Role of Self-Control

Öz:

Within the scope of this research, it was examined whether self-control skills had a mediator role between the social exclusion ofuniversity students and social media addiction. The study group of the research consists of 426 university students (334 girls and92 boys), and the Social Exclusion Scale, Social Media Addiction Scale, and Brief Self-Control Scale were used in the datacollection process. This research is a correlational research and was conducted with university students. In the data analysis of theresearch, Bootstrapping process was performed with Structural Equation Modeling. According to the structural equation modeling,it was concluded that students' self-control skills had a partial mediating role between social exclusion and social media addiction.According to the result of the Bootstrapping procedure performed to test the significance of the indirect effect of self-control onthe relationship between social exclusion and social media addiction, it was concluded that the indirect effect was significant. Basedon the findings, it was seen that social exclusion is an important causal variable in the emergence of social media addiction, andthat self-control has an important protective function in this relationship, and social exclusion is a factor that paves the way for theemergence of social media addiction by weakening self-control.
