THE MODERATOR ROLES OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND FORMALIZATION IN THE EFFECT OF NETWORKING BEHAVIORS ON SUBJECTIVE CAREER SUCCESS

Öz:
Social networks are one of the most important elements that can support employees in their works and career paths and enable them to reach various outputs in this context. The process of creating social network is largely related to individuals' networking abilities and behaviors. Although the effects of networking behaviors on subjective career success have been revealed by many studies; studies in this context have been carried out in limited numbers, especially in Turkey. The main purpose of this research is to reveal whether emotional intelligence and formalization have moderator roles in the effect of networking behaviors on subjective career success and thus contribute both to the literature and the field of practice by suggesting a model in this direction. In this context, 360 survey data obtained from various bank employees that are operating in the public or private sector in Adana between July 2019 and January 2020, were analyzed in this research by using scales with high validity and reliability. According to the findings that are obtained by analyzing the data, networking behaviors have low but significant effect on subjective career success. In addition, emotional intelligence and formalization both have moderating effects on the relationship between networking behaviors and career success according to the findings of the research. Another important result of the research is that; the level of formalization, which is one of the regulatory variable determined in the research, affects the relationship between networking behaviors and subjective career success much more than the emotional intelligence.
