Stratigraphy and geochronology of the Early Miocene volcanic units in the Bigadiç Borate Basin, Western Turkey

Öz:
Batı Anadolu Geç Oligosen'den itibaren, Menderes Masifi, Sakarya Zonu, Likya napları ve Bornova Fliş Oligosen'den Zonu'ndan oluşan temel üzerinde KD ve B-D doğrultulu havzaların oluşumunu sonuçlayan deformasyona uğramıştır. KD-doğrultulu havzalardan olan Bigadiç bor havzası, Sakarya Zonu ve Menderes Masifi arasında kalan 50-90 km genişliğinde bir kuşak boyunca yüzlek veren Bornova Filiş Zonu üzerinde yer alır. Bigadiç çevresinde temel kayaçları üzerindeki Erken Miyosen istifleri gölsel, flüvyal ve evaporitik tortul kayaçlar ile bunları kesen KD-doğrultulu volkanik çıkış merkezlerinden üretilen lav ve volkaniklastik kayaçlar ile simgelenir. Bölgedeki Erken Miyosen volkanizması, 23.0 Milyon yıl önce başlamış ve 17.8 Milyon yıla kadar devam etmiştir. Stratigrafik ve jeokronolojik veriler, gölsel çökelim öncesinde ve sırasında gelişen iki volkanik evrenin olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu evrelerle ilgili ürünler, birbirleri ile açısal uyumsuzlukla ayrılan Kocaiskan volkanitleri ve Bigadiç volkano-sedimenter serisidir. Kocaiskan volkanitleri, andezitik sokulumlar, lavlar, piroklastik ve volkanojenik tortul kayaçlardan oluşmaktadır. Bu volkanitler, karasal koşullarda yerleşmiş ve bölgedeki en yüksek topografyaya sahip stratovolkanları oluşturmuştur. Bigadiç volkano-sedimenter serisi ise volkanik ve gölsel birimlerden oluşmaktadır. Bazalttan riyolite kadar değişen bileşimlerdeki lav ve volkaniklastik kayaçlardan oluşan volkanik birimler, gölsel birimlere ait bor içeren karbonatlı, silisli ve killi tortullar ile ardalanmalıdır. Bigadiç bölgesindeki volkanik birimler, 'İzmir-Balıkesir transfer kuşağı' olarak adlandırılan ve bölgesel ölçekli bir fay kuşağının bir parçası olan KD doğrultulu kırıklar boyunca oluşmuştur. Bu transfer kuşağının Geç Kretase'den günümüze kadar aktif olduğu ve Kikladlar ile batı Türkiye arasında farklı düzeydeki açılmayı kontrol ettiği düşünülmektedir. Bu kuşak, Erken Miyosen ve sonrasında aktif olmuştur. Bigadiç bor havzası, çevre bölgelerde eş yaşlı sıyrılma fayları ve sin-kinematik granitlerin yerleşimine neden olan açılma rejimindeki KD doğrultulu zayıflık zonunda yer almaktadır.
