FACTORS AFFECTING SPECIAL FIELD COMPETENCIES OF SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHERS AND THEIR RELATION TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

Öz:
This research aims to examine the opinions of social studies teachers about the factors affecting their special field competencies in the context of undergraduate education. For this purpose, in accordance with the principles of scientific ethics, the opinions of 12 social studies teachers who graduated from Ondokuz Mayıs University and have been working in different provinces were consulted. Qualitative approach was adopted in the research. According to the findings obtained by conducting content analysis, it was determined that the teachers gained some of the social studies special field competencies determined by undergraduate education although they had some deficiencies in some competencies. As a result of the research, it was determined that the teachers considered themselves sufficient in Using Field Knowledge in the LearningTeaching Process (UFKLTP), but they considered their efficacy levels as the weakest in the field of Cooperation with School, Family and Society (CSFS). In addition, it was observed that the most effective undergraduate courses in teaching special field competencies were the applied courses such as teaching practice, special teaching methods and school experience while the courses such as assessment and evaluation, community service practices and communication were described as inefficient courses for various reasons.

SOSYAL BİLGİLER ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN ÖZEL ALAN YETERLİKLERİNİ ETKİLEYEN FAKTÖRLER VE BUNLARIN LİSANS PROGRAMIYLA İLİŞKİSİ

Öz:
Araştırmanın amacı sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin özel alan yeterliklerini etkileyen faktörlere ilişkin görüşlerini lisans eğitimi bağlamında incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda bilimsel etik ilkelerine uygun olarak Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi’nden mezun olup farklı illere atanmış 12 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeninin görüşüne başvurulmuştur. Araştırmada nitel yaklaşım benimsenmiştir. İçerik analizi yapılarak elde edilen bulgulara göre öğretmenlerin, sosyal bilgiler özel alan yeterlikleri üzerinde birçok faktörün etkili olduğu; bu yeterliklerin bir kısmını lisans eğitimiyle kazanabildikleri ancak bazı yeterlikler konusunda eksiklikleri olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin en güçlü yeterlik alanlarının Öğrenme-Öğretme Sürecinde Alan Bilgisini Kullanma (ÖÖSABK); en zayıf yeterlik alanlarının ise Okul, Aile ve Toplumla İş Birliği Yapma (OA ve TİY) yeterlik alanı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca özel alan yeterliklerini kazandırmada en etkili lisans derslerinin öğretmenlik uygulaması, özel öğretim yöntemleri ve okul deneyimi gibi uygulamalı dersler olduğu; ancak çeşitli nedenlerle ölçme-değerlendirme, topluma hizmet uygulamaları, iletişim gibi derslerin ise verimsiz dersler olarak nitelendirildiği görülmüştür.
